Operating Assumptions
Linbert Spencer Consultancy Ltd works on the following assumptions.- The ability to manage a diverse workforce effectively is essential for organisations striving to be successful.
- Every workforce is diverse because we are all different.
- Diversity equals difference and our differences include, but are not limited to, age, disability, educational background, ethnicity, family background, gender, physical abilities or qualities, religious beliefs, sexual or affectional orientation, etc.
- The mix of differences that we have and are gives each one of us a unique range of attributes and characteristics and a distinctive view of the world.
- It's our distinctions/differences that make us valuable.
- Managed well, our similarities help us to work together and our differences make our work more effective and efficient.
- Meeting customer/client/citizen needs requires organisations whose employees reflect the diversity of the market place or constituency.
- Organisations that value diversity within their workforce and operate on the basis of that value and 'manage inclusion', will attract and develop employees who know and appreciate that they are valued. The employees will come to recognise that their difference is as valuable as those things they have in common. As a consequence they will add value to their teams and departments and set up a virtuous cycle that will consistently enhance the organisation's performance.
